Teaching Methods and Philosophies
Each of Eli’s educational trainings are based on a combination of three core methodological components: increase in topical knowledge, empathy-building and enhancement of related skills. All trainings are highly interactive in nature, and designed to engage participants in the material in a safe and fun learning environment.
Experience:
Eli has conducted educational trainings and seminars to over a thousand participants at over 50 colleges/universities, conferences and non-profit organizations across the country, including: New York University, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, University of CT, The Hetrick-Martin Institute, Hispanic AIDS Forum, House of Ruth, NYC LGBT Community Center, and the Center Against Sexual Assault. These presentations have included staff and volunteer sensitivity trainings, college seminars, educational instruction, and consciousness-raising sessions.
Topics:
Eli’s trainings are customized to the specific needs of the participants and each setting. Eli has been professionally trained in a wide range of sexuality related topics with particular specialities in: issues impacting marginalized youth, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGBT) identities and issues, gender diversity, and interpersonal abuse and violence. Eli has a particular focus on helping groups to understand the differences between biological sex, gender identity, gender roles, and sexual orientation.
Cost:
The cost of having Eli conduct a training at your organizations will vary based largely on duration, location, and the number of participants. Sliding scale fees are available for organizations with limited budgets or significant financial challenges, and will be considered on a case by case basis.
